Rosella W. Causer passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, surrounded by loving family members. "Pinkie," as she was affectionately known by her family, was born Nov. 3, 1945, to the late Deacon Eldean Sr. and Sister Rosa Lee Williams. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal savior and joined Young Zion Baptist Church, where she served faithfully until her health began to fail.
"Zette," as she was affectionately known by classmates, attended Camden County Training School in St. Marys, Ga., and graduated with the class of 1962 at Ralph Johnson Bunche High School in Woodbine, Ga.
"Rosie," as she was affectionately known by her nursing peers, earned her nursing degree from Brunswick Junior College in 1975. Prior to her initial retirement in 2014, her nursing gifts were used at Gilman Hospital, a local doctor's office, Brantley County Health Department, Woodbine Family Care Center and the Camden County Health Department. Recognizing her continued desire for nursing, she returned to work at the Camden County Health Department, officially retiring in January 2021.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Deacon Eldean Sr. and Sister Rosa Lee Williams; brothers, Rufus Williams Sr. and Lemon Johnnie Williams; son, Tony L. Mack; and great-granddaughter, D'Nyaah Ah'Leah-Anne Mack. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving children, Wendy Schlefstein of Jacksonville, Fla., Shalonda Henderson of St. Marys, Ga., and Jonathan Causer of Gainesville, Ga.; dear grandchildren who affectionately called her "Nana," De'Lesia Mack of St. Marys, Ga., Dominique Jones of Atlanta, Ga., Jordan Billups of Valdosta, Ga., Serenity Causer of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Wynter Knowles of Jacksonville, Fla.; caring sisters, Arabell Williams and Jacqueline Hart, both of St. Marys, Ga.; devoted brothers, Eugene (Beulah) Williams of Jacksonville, Fla., Eldean Williams Jr. of Bossier City, La., Dr. George (Susie) Williams and the Rev. Dr. Thomas (Olivia) Williams, both of Savannah, Ga., and Howard Williams of St. Marys, Ga.; adopted brother, Robert (Deborah) Hubbard of Detroit, Mich.; sisters-in-law, Winnie T. Williams of St. Marys, Ga., Annette R. Williams of Jacksonville, Fla.; godchildren, Dwyane Strong of Warner Robins, Ga., and Rosella Cherrone Davis of Cypress, Texas; godbrothers, Roger Robinson of St. Marys, Ga., and Harold Griffin Jr. of McDonough, Ga.; special adopted children/grandchildren, the Minnis family; special friends, Erma Farlin, Cynthia Green, Sandra Craig, Dorothy Whitaker and Tara Cummings; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
