Ronald Lee Logan Sr., affectionally known as "Pops," was born Jan. 10, 1952, in Wilmington, N.C., to the late Robert Lee and Gladys Barmore Logan. He departed his life, at the age of 72, on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Fla. At an early age, Ronald accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined Holy Trinity Holiness Church. He graduated from John T. Hoggard High School in 1970. He later joined the U.S. Army at Fort Bragg, N.C. He continued his education at Trident Technical College.
After his military career, he was employed at Charleston Naval Shipyard as an insulator (nuclear) in Charleston, S.C. He later moved to Kingsland, Ga., where he was employed for more than 32 years as an insulator (nuclear) at Trident Refit Facility, Kings Bay, Ga., where he retired. He was joined in holy matrimony to his first wife, Elisa Elmore, who proceeded him in death. To this union two children were born. He was later joined in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Brenda Buie. Pops' greatest joy in life other than his wife and children was football. He was a diehard 49ers fan. He loved spending time with his family, cooking and talking on the phone.
In addition to his parents, Pops was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Lavern Dingle, brothers; the Rev. Dr. John Troy Sr., Leroy Evans III, and Charles Kinsey; and sisters, Jeanette B. Jones and Janice E. McLaurin. Pops leave to cherish his loving memories his wife of 11 years, Brenda Logan of Kingsland, Ga.; children, Ronald Dingle (Shanetta) of Raleigh, N.C., Nakia Logan of Kingsland, Ga., Ronald Lee Logan Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., Will Buie Jr. (TaKeeta) of Kingsland, Ga., Sherrod Buie (Cherrelle) of Summerville, S.C., and Veronica Buie of Kingsland, Ga.; 19 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five sisters, Narvia Logan Priest (Tony) of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Helen Freeman of Delco, N.C., Brenda Evans, Gwendolyn Gayden, and Sandra Coffield of Wilmington, N.C.; two brothers, John Evans and Ronald Evans of Wilmington, N.C.; three brothers-in-law, Warren Thornton (Geraldine) of Bronson, Fla., Vernon Thornton (Geneva) of Hawthorne, Fla., and Ernest Hayes (Pam); three sisters-in-law, Sandra Troy of Fayetteville, N.C., Allean Gilyard (Erving) of Fernandina Beach, Fla., and Atamese Thornton of Kingsland, Ga.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and special friend and classmate, Eleanor Waddell of Wilmington, N.C.
