Nathaniel Conrad Wilson was born May 5, 1930, to the union of the late John H. Wilson and Ethel Holzendorf Wilson. He was the youngest of the four children from that marriage. Unfortunately, at a very tender age, Nathaniel and his siblings experienced the tragic loss of their father. Within time, their mother united in marriage with the late Peter James Hall, affectionately known as "PJ," and he lovingly and devotedly helped raise the Wilson children into adulthood.
Nathaniel was known fondly as "Captain Nat," "Daddy" or "Daddy Nat" by family and friends from the East Coast to the Gulf Coast. He was educated at Camden County Training Center in St. Marys, Ga. He started courting his neighbor and fell in love with the love of his life, Eloise W. Wilson, of St. Marys, Ga. They were joined in holy matrimony Oct. 4, 1953, where he took the seas and became an avid sea captain and eventually became the owner of 9 Shrimp Vessels. In addition to the love of the seas, Captain Nat was a big Atlanta Braves fan. He joined Greater Trinity United Methodist Church at a very early age and served faithfully until demise.
On Saturday, July 27, 2024, the seas stopped rolling and "The Captain" peacefully went home to be with the Lord. In addition to his parents, Captain Nat was predeceased by siblings, John Henry Wilson, Lillian Althea Coleman and Pearl Helen Lee. He leaves to mourn his passing, his devoted and loving wife of 70 years, Eloise Wilson; devoted children, Michael (Gina) Wilson of St. Marys, Ga., Kenneth (Claudine) Wilson of Apalachicola, Fla., Albert Wilson of St. Marys, Ga., Patricia Wilson Smith of Springfield, Va., and Laverne Wilson Lightburn of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren, Kendrah Wilson, Michael Wilson Jr., Mikell Wilson, Mario Wilson, Jacadra (Micah) Young, Edwin Wilson, Alberto Brown, Alisia Wilson, Kalin Wilson, LaTorey Sallins, TaRasha Riles, TaRhonda (Jeff) Eiland, Dalin (Joe Marie) Modican, Michelle Butler, Zachary Smith and Gregory Smith; great-grandchildren, Kenneth "Chase," Mikayla, Devell, Teigan, Zoe, Nylah, Kyree, Kyreonna, Ka'Travius, Malaya, Milani, Canan and Caiden; great-great-grandchildren, Kaegan, Kadence, Kendahl, Julie and Marcello; two brothers-in-law, Alvin (Hattie Lee) Wilson and Calvin Wilson Sr.; devoted friends, Charles Floyd, Donald Sanders, Levonia Ellison (Atlanta Braves partner) and Rick Watson; special friend, Ann King; godchildren, Dr. Marvin P.
